It was that time of year again for the Lady Cobras Basketball team to face off against cross-town rivals King University just across the Va./Tenn. state line. The game proved to be one that lived up to all of the hype: the Lady Cobras defeated the Lady Tornado 66-61 this past Thursday.

The intensity started from the beginning, as the crowd on the King University campus was aware of what was at stake. The Lady Cobras wasted no time and jumped to a 17-point lead at halftime. King ultimately cut the lead down in the second half, but the Lady Cobras held on for their third win of the year.

Rainey Story led the way once again for Virginia Intermont, pouring in 18 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. The junior from Greeneville, Tenn., is now averaging 21.33 points per game and is 13th in Division II scoring. Radville Autukaite also added 16 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists for the Lady Cobras. Senior Kayla Orrick scored in double figures with 14 points on 6-12 shooting from the floor.

The Lady Cobras headed to Columbia, S.C. this weekend for their second AAC contest of the season, facing off against the Koalas of Columbia College.
