The Virginia Intermont College baseball team will host the third annual Armed Forces Recognition Game April 6, 2013 to honor those who serve or have served in the United States armed forces. The Intermont Cobras will take on Union College at 1 p.m. at Devault Stadium in Bristol, Va. Admission is free, and all Armed Forces men and women, friends and fans are invited.
A pre- game ceremony on the field will recognize all veterans, and those in attendance will receive free refreshments from the concession stand throughout the game. The first 15 veterans to sign in will receive a free tee-shirt. Items donated from local businesses will be raffled with the Grand Prize being a trip for two to Dallas and tickets to a Texas Rangers game. Veterans will make the first pitch after the national anthem is sung and the presentation of colors.
Proceeds from raffle tickets, tee-shirt sales and concessions will benefit the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program. Donations to the organization are also welcome.
