Coinciding with Virginia Private College Week, a statewide campus visitation event July 29-Aug. 3, 2013, Virginia Intermont will offer “Choosing College: tips for navigating the process,” a general information session for students who want to attend college.
High school students and families are invited to the one-hour presentation on Tues. evening, July 30, at 7 p.m. in Trayer Theatre, Worrell Fine Arts Building. The information session is intended to inform prospective college students and address the following:
- Preparing for college applications
- Getting out front for athletics recruitment
- Types of scholarships offered, including merit, athletic and performance-based awards
- Facts on financial aid, including VTAG, FAFSA, Parent Plus and work study
Dr. Rick Carroll, dean of admissions, will provide general information on preparing for college admission including application requirements, submitting ACT or SAT scores, and selecting the right college for you.
Dr. Cindy Ward, provost, will give an overview of liberal arts and Bachelor’s degree programs related to student academic interests.
Sharon Greatti, financial aid coordinator, will introduce scholarship and financial aid programs and provide useful information resources.
Christopher Holt, executive director of athletics, will discuss recruitment strategies and how to promote yourself as a student-athlete.
