At the upcoming IHSA National Championships, it will be up to individual riders to bring home a blue ribbon for Virginia Intermont College.

After appearing 13 straight years with a hunter seat team in the IHSA National Championships, Virginia Intermont broke its winning streak at the Zone 5 Finals on Sat., April 6 at Evermore Farm in Statesboro, Ga. A first or second place finish would have qualified the VI team for another showing at Nationals and kept the IHSA’s current longest winning streak in the nation running.

VI finished in 4th place out of the five regional champion teams competing.  Berry College (Rome, Ga.) and Savannah College of Art and Design (Savannah, Ga.) will represent Zone 5 at IHSA Nationals to be held May 2-4 in Harrisburg, Pa.

Despite not fielding a full hunter seat team, VI will have a healthy presence at IHSA Nationals in individual competition with qualified riders in six classes. Team results and individual competitors are:

TEAM SCORES:

Berry College – 45

Savannah College of Art and Design – 39

College of Charleston (Charleston, SC) – 33

Virginia Intermont (Bristol, VA) – 30

Virginia Intermont will have a healthy presence in Harrisburg qualifying riders in six classes. The top two winners from each individual class move forward to the National Championships.  Those representing VI are:
