Virginia Intermont placed third at the IHSA horse show Sat., Mar. 30 at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, but with the team’s overall season results ahead of other regional competitors, the Cobras came away as top in the region, qualifying them to compete in Zone Finals. The Zone 5 Finals will be held Sat., April 6 at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga.
Virginia Intermont’s Blake Roberts and Danielle Clark are currently in 1st and 2nd place in high point standings. In individual competition, these two riders as well as VI’s Jasmine Stippich, Megan Kelty, Kayla Akers, Taylor Scott, and Lauren Markwood (in alumni class) qualified for Zone Finals at the Zone 5 Region 4 Regional show on Sun., March 31.
Blue ribbons were not the only reason for smiles over the horse show weekend. Easter hats were in fashion for the holiday and adding to the festive spirit, the Easter Bunny left a few baskets and treats in the VI van on Sat. night. (See photos on Facebook)
